San Fernando Rey de España is the seventeenth of the California Missions.

Founded on September 8, 1797, by Fr. Fermin Francisco de Lasuen.

San Fernando Rey de España!

The mission was named for Saint Ferdinand, the King of Spain in the 13th century.

However, it special name designation was Misson of the Valley.

Today, locals called it San Fernando Mission.
