Celebrate Earth Day in the San Fernando Valley

The first Earth Day was celebrated in 1970 when then U.S. Wisconsin senator, Gaylord Nelson, organized a national demonstration to raise awareness about environmental issues. By the end of that year, as a result of the rallies across the country, the U.S. government created the Environmental Protection Agency. In the early 1990s, Earth Day became a global celebration. Former President Bill Clinton awarded Sen. Nelson the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1995 for his part in establishing Earth Day. Today, we carry the tradition of caring for our planet. My Valley Pass, the San Fernando Valley’s #1 Visitors Guide, has the inside scoop of where you can celebrate Earth Day in the San Fernando Valley.
