Meet Your SFV Tour Guides

Meet Our San Fernando Valley Tour Guides

After a three-year hiatus, the long-awaited San Fernando Valley Tours are back! My Valley Pass--the San Fernando Valley’s #1 visitors’ guide—kicks off this comeback with the SFV Film Tour on March 12th and the Sherman Way Film Tour on March 18th. The SFV Restaurant tour follows on March 19th with the SFV Brewery tour wrapping it up on March 26th.

Join us and experience the Valley in a whole different light. These tours, led by our team of experts, aim to show you iconic filming locations, hidden gems, and sites that are “totally valley”. And, of course, the goal is to make sure everyone is having fun in the process. These tours will have something for everyone and the experience will have you coming back for more. But before putting on those walking shoes and hopping onto that bus, let’s meet your tour guides!

Jared Cowan, SFV Film Tour and the Sherman Way Film Tour

Photographer, film journalist, and My Valley Pass co-founder Jared Cowan leads the San Fernando Valley Film Tour and the Sherman Way Film tours. Movies and films have always been a big part of his life since childhood—even proposing to his wife on the “Rocky Steps”, the stone steps leading up to the entrance of the Philadelphia Museum of Art where they filmed Rocky’s famous climb. He writes for various publications including Los Angeles Magazine, L.A. TACO, and L.A. Weekly about films and film locations. His podcast, On Location with Jared Cowan, features interviews with filmmakers at the location of their movies.

“It’s nice to be able to stand in a place---a hallowed place that’s yours for that moment in time that you’re there. It’s an amazing feeling,” shares Jared about his pe the favorite part of the tour. “I want people to really get a sense of how much film history is here—beyond what they already know…I hope they get a sense of that from the tour. It’s a cool way to see the Valley and get a little more of the Valley’s history but through pop culture.”

Kym Dumore, SFV Restaurant Tour

A newcomer to the San Fernando Valley tour team, food blogger Kym Dunmore, leads the five-hour SFV Restaurant tour, taking you to four of the most historic restaurants: Cavaretta’s Italian Deli, Horseless Carriage, Los Toros Mexican Restaurant, and Daglas Drive-In/Cupid’s Hot Dogs. The founder of Snacks and Slow Jams is a DJ and food lover whose diverse palette can be attributed to having lived in four different countries—the Philippines, Hong Kong, Canada, and the U.S (Southern California). Her passion for food and to tell the story behind the food—as evident in her feature on Bill’s Burgers--makes her the perfect candidate to lead this tour.

When asked what she wants people to get out of the tour, she said:

“I want people to have fun, and for people to see beyond the food. I want them to see the food and the stories that they carry.”

Cassie Angel, SFV Brewery Tour

Returning as the host of the SFV Brewery Tour, Cassie Angel runs this 21 and over tour with lighthearted fun that fits her persona perfectly! Formerly known as the stand-up comedian the Valley Vixen, she is excited to come back to this tour a second time around since the pandemic gave way to a lot

of transitions. She shared that the most memorable part of leading the tour is seeing people having a great time and then coming back for another tour with more family and friends in tow. She loves seeing people’s reactions as they discover these hidden gems tucked away in spaces that they’ve never been to.

“It’ll be gratifying to experience community getting together again as we highlight the Valley through these hidden gems that sometimes people don’t know about. I can’t wait!” shares Cassie.

Grab your friends and family and check out our events page to get your tickets now. The return of these SFV tours is something you definitely don’t want to miss!
